This course is an introduction to visual art. We’ll cover various media and techniques within the areas of
sculpture drawing painting craft
Your grade:
· Execution and Completion of projects and assignments
· Exams
· Participation
Your guide:
Be punctual.
If you are not in the room when the bell rings, you are LATE.
I do not excuse tardies or absences.
Be prepared.
Bring the necessary materials, information, and attitude to class.
You will need the following materials EVERY DAY:
12 number 2 pencils (a case...more is better)
A set of 12 or more color pencils
An art eraser (preferably kneaded, gum, or white)
A zipper pouch that can go into your binder
A binder with dividers and pockets
You may keep your materials in the classroom or take them
home, but you will need to be prepared to use them every day.
You will need to have these materials checked in by
Friday, January 27, 2012 FOR A GRADE.
Be On Task
Your active participation is key to the success of your work.
Leave the cellphones in your pockets or purses. If I have to ask you
more than once to put yours away, I'll take it.
OFF TASK FOUL
Do you know what you're here for? AN EDUCATION! If I have to talk to you more than once about being off task, you'll receive an OFF TASK FOUL. 3 FOULS= a trip to the responsibility room/ a call home.
Be respectful.
Respect the instructor, your classmates, the materials, and the rules of
the classroom.
Hateful or inappropriate language is UNACCEPTABLE.
LANGUAGE FOUL
Have a dirty mouth? Inappropriate or hateful language will get you a LANGUAGE FOUL. 3 FOULS= a trip to the responsibility room/ a call home.
Clean up.
This classroom is everyone’s studio. You are to leave it in better condition than when you came. Your participation in clean up directly affects your participation...which directly affects the BIGGEST part of your grade.
Your goods:
Creativity is the basis of everything. Technology doesn’t exist without innovative and critical thinking.

If you have one, BRING IT!
Extra Credit
Extra credit opportunities will periodically arise during the school year. Take advantage of these to perfect your skills, tweak your knowledge, and boost your grade.
“Caught!”
Redeem 3 “caught!” cards for extra credit or a free tardy.
Exhibition
Your work will be displayed at the end of the year. What is shown is a reflection of your effort and a source of pride!
Music
I will play music periodically, but you are welcome to listen to your own with a few exceptions...
You need to be listening to your music through HEADPHONES.
Do not be disruptive.
Do not come into the classroom with your music playing.
Take out headphones and pause music when I am addressing you or
the class.
Music is a PRIVILEGE! Abuse these rules, and you/the class will lose this privilege.
